Creating Vinyl Expressions

Every month my girlfriends and I get together for a girls night.  Last month we all got together at my house and created fabulous projects with my Silhouette.  It was so much fun seeing everyone's creativity and getting to help them design things for their homes.

This is the fun and fabulous piece that I created.

I can't take credit for the actual design, my friend Pearcia came up with it, I just added in the phrases and words that I thought fit our family.

I absolutely love it!  I hung it in the corner of our living room, above my craft dresser, and I stare at it all the time.  Not only are those things very true of our family, but they are also a great reminder for the things we do, on the days that we don't really feel like doing them.

This project was almost free which was even better!  Here's what I used:

A piece of wood
{I supplied all the wood for my friends because we had a ton left over from Malea's bed}
Paint {Leftover from one of many projects}
Sand paper {it was just hangin' out in the garage}
Vinyl {purchased from Expressions Vinyl}
A Silhouette

I started out by creating the design in the Silhouette program.  Then painted and sanded the wood {one of my friends actually did this part for me since I was busy working on everyone else's projects}.  After my wood had been sanded down I cut the layout out of the vinyl, using my Silhouette.  Then I cut the expressions out and placed them where I wanted them on the board.
After I was finished I screwed two hooks on the back so that I could hang it on the wall.

This is such an easy and fun project.  Even if you don't have a Silhouette or Cricut you could still create one of these expression boards.  All you'd have to do is paint and sand a board, then purchase letters from Michael's or Hobby Lobby to write out your expressions!  Super fun and personalized just for your family!

Here are some of the pictures from our craft night and the other great projects that we created.

Having fun designing.

Bethany really getting into her project.

Inspired by the conversion chart I won from Lil Luna.

Have you created any vinyl expressions for your home?  I'd love to see your projects if you have!
